24 April 2014 - The OPCW-UN Joint Mission confirms delivery of a further shipment of chemical weapons material. Today's operation brings the total of chemical material removed and destroyed in country to 92.5%.

"I welcome the significant progress of the last three weeks, and I strongly encourage the Syrian authorities to conclude the removal operations as part of their efforts to achieve the 30 June 2014 deadline. Particular thanks goes to Member States for their steadfast support," said OPCW-UN Joint Mission Special Coordinator Sigrid Kaag.
In addition to the removal operations, the Syrian authorities have destroyed buildings, equipment and empty mustard gas containers, and decontaminated other containers in a number of chemical weapons storage and production sites. A majority of these sites are now closed.
البعثة المشتركة لمنظمة حظر الأسلحة الكيميائية والأمم المتحدة في سوريا
اللاذقية، 24 نيسان 2014- تؤكد البعثة المشتركة لمنظمة حظر الأسلحة الكيميائية والأمم المتحدة على تسليم شحنة إضافية من مواد الأسلحة الكيميائية. عملية اليوم ترفع من إجمالي المواد الكيميائية المُزالة والمُدمّرة في البلاد إلى 92.5%.
قالت المنسِّقة الخاصّة للبعثة المشتركة لمنظمة حظر الأسلحة الكيميائية والأمم المتحدة السيدة سيغريد كاغ: "أرحّب بالتقدم الملحوظ في الأسابيع الثلاثة الأخيرة، وأحُثّ وبقوّة السلطات السورية على أن تختم عمليات الإزالة كجزء من الجهود الرامية لتحقيق موعد 30 حزيران 2014 النهائي. شكر خاص للدول الأعضاء على دَعمِهم الثابت والمستمر."
بالإضافة إلى عمليات الإزالة، دَمَّرت السلطات السورية أبنية ومعدات وحاويات فارغة من غاز الخردل، وقامت بتطهير حاويات أخرى في عدد من مواقع تخزين وإنتاج الأسلحة الكيميائية. غالبية هذه المواقع قد تم إغلاقها.
